Mark Crook receives Mancinelli award

On Wednesday, June 9, American Legion Post 1796- New Windsor gave the Anthony Mancinelli Award to NFA main Senior, Mark Crook, in recognition of his academic achievements and his completion and certification in the NFA Cosmetology program.

Mark Crook will be attending Univ. of California- Davis in the Fall of 2021.

The Anthony Mancinelli Award is a $500 scholarship bestowed by the American Legion Post 1796-New Windsor annually to a graduating senior who will be furthering their education and has demonstrated mastery in Barbering/Cosmetology.

The Award is in memory of Mr. Anthony Mancinelli, a life member of Post 1796 and an area barber from age 13 until his passing at age 106. 

Anthony was born March 2, 1911 in Basilicata, Italy, he emigrated into New York in 1919 and started his hair cutting business. He joined the Army and served in World War II. When he was 90 years old, he was recognized by Guinness World Records as the worlds oldest barber. He died on September 19, 2019. Anthony was a lifetime member  of Post 1796 and was its oldest member.
