Town police cruiser crashes

Posted

On March 30th at approximately 8:15pm, Town of Newburgh Police Officer William Fiordalisi was traveling S/B on Rt 300 in the area of Yobo Restaurant. Travelling N/B Rt 300 was a 1995 Honda Civic being driven by a 48yr old male. Preliminary investigation shows the Toyota attempted to make a left turn into the parking lot of Yobo, cutting off the marked police unit. Evasive action by Fiordalisi avoided a collision with the Toyota, but while taking such action, the police cruiser struck a curb, then a telephone pole, rolling over at the conclusion. Fiordalisi was transported to St Lukes Hospital for his injuries, where he was released after treatment. The driver of the Toyota, a New Windsor resident, was not injured and was issued a summons at the scene. Investigation is ongoing.
