Marlboro and Highland Cal Ripken teams advanced to bracket play in various Southern New York tournaments last week, after struggling in pool play.

In the oldest bracket, the 12U Marlboro Dukes were scheduled to face off against Highland on Sunday for the right to move on in the tournament.

Tournament winners move on to the Mid Atlantic Region tournaments later in July.

Marlboro lost three games in the 11U division and was scheduled to face New Paltz in its final pool game on Sunday.

Highland went 1-2 in the 10U division, scoring a hard-fought win over New Paltz, but dropping games to East Fishkill Blue and Kingston. Highland was scheduled to play Beacon again on Sunday in the opening of bracket play.

Marlboro went 1-3 in the 9U division, only scoring a 17-12 win over New Paltz, which went winless. Marlboro suffered big losses to Poughkeepsie, Kingston and East Fishkill.

They were scheduled to open bracket play on Monday against New Paltz.

The only division not to play in the Southern New York Tournament yet is the 8U division, which was playing its District 3 tournament last weekend at the Highland Babe Ruth Park.

Marlboro scored a win over Kingston, 19-3 and a win over New Paltz, and was scheduled to play New Paltz again Sunday in the championship game. Highland was scheduled to play Kingston in the consolation game.
