Fuel oil spill on Mohonk Road

An incident involving a fuel delivery truck operated by HOP Energy resulted in a single-vehicle rollover on Mohonk Road in High Falls early Tuesday. The accident occurred at approximately 8:27 am, leading to a spill of home heating oil.

First responders were on the scene within minutes. Multiple response teams swiftly reacted to the situation, including the Ulster County Department of Emergency Services, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, High Falls Fire District, Stone Ridge Fire District, Rosendale Fire District, City of Kingston Fire Department and HAZMAT team, Bloomington Fire District, and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC).

Efforts are actively underway to manage and mitigate the impact of the home heating oil spill under the supervision of the NYS DEC. The cleanup operations are mandated to be executed and funded by the company that operated the vehicle.

The cause of the incident is presently under investigation by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office. At this time, no further details are available.
