This week Corey Sowers will graduate from Marlboro High School Class of 2021. He has not missed a day of school nor has he ever been late or left school early, since he entered kindergarten.

Corey said part of the reason for his attendance record is that he enjoys school.

“I accomplished something that probably no other kid can do,” he said.

Corey’s father Ken said he wanted to honor his son’s record.
“It’s something that is not done every day. It’s just a little pat on the back because it’s a hard task to accomplish today.” he said.

Corey said his favorite subject was band, where he played the drums.

“I like playing with everyone and Mr. Orsen is a really good band teacher that I had throughout all of high school,” Corey said, noting that he plays classical, rock and some jazz.

In the fall Corey will be attending Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh.

“I’ll be doing cyber security, music and playing golf,” he said, as he played on the high school varsity golf team and lettered in the sport every year.

Corey said he will miss high school but is looking forward to the next phase of his life in college.
