Gwendolyn Ann “Gwen” Ahlers, 50, of Modena, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at New York Presbyterian Hospital at Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor, New York.

Born February 12, 1971 in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Terry Sr. and Linda Betty (Comfort) Ahlers.

Gwen worked for the Department of Environmental Conservation in New Paltz, New York as an Office Assistant.

She was an avid reader and writer, enjoyed doing puzzles, and loved singing. If it was a book, she would have read it; if it was a song, she would sing it; if it was a mystery, she would have tried to solve it. Gwen worked as a camp counselor for several summers at the Girl Scout Camp and she loved it, as she enjoyed children.  She adored her nieces and nephews and would always surprise them with some special trinket. Gwen was a cat lover also and kept many during her life. She was a lifetime member of the Modena United Methodist Church and was the children’s choir director.

Survivors include her siblings, Terry Ahlers, Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Newburgh, NY; Geri Lake of Loch Sheldrake, NY; Angela Voulo of Cairo, NY and Cheri Modig and her husband, Stephen of Everett, WA; her nephews, Robert Ahlers of Newburgh, NY, Michael Voulo and his wife, Monica of Albany, NY and Joseph Voulo of Green Island, NY; her nieces, Elisabeth Lake of Loch Sheldrake, NY, Andrea Moxham of Coxsackie, NY, and Rhea Modig of Everett, WA; and a lot of extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she predeceased by her brother-in-law, James Voulo Jr.
