Highland won pool play in the 12U District 3 Cal Ripken Baseball tournament, winning three straight games on Friday and Saturday at the Highland Babe Ruth Park.

Highland opened the tournament with a 10-0 win over Kingston in a game that was called in the bottom of the fourth due to the 10-run rule. Highland also defeated Marlboro by double digits on Saturday night.

Marlboro opened the day with its only win of the tournament so far, 9-2 over Kingston. They opened the tournament a 5-3 loss to New Paltz.

New Paltz also beat Kingston, 21-6, to claim the No. 2 seed.

The teams went on to Sunday’s semifinals and the winners were scheduled to play for the championship on Monday.

Other Southern New York state tournaments will begin this week.

Marlboro’s 9U team will begin play Thursday at Crown Heights Park against Poughkeepsie. They will face Kingston on Friday and East Fishkill on Saturday morning and New Paltz in the final game of the day.
The teams will then advance to a single-elimination bracket that will end on Tuesday.

Marlboro and Highland will both compete in the 10U tournament with two teams from East Fishkill, Kingston, Beacon and New Paltz.

They will play a double-elimination tournament at East Fishkill Recreation. The championship game is scheduled for Monday, July 5.

Marlboro’s 11U team will play starting Thursday at Crown Heights Park. They will open the tournament Thursday against Poughkeepsie. They will also play pool play games against Kingston on Friday.

All six teams will play a single elimination tournament, ending on Tuesday.
