Mighty Marlins earn 3rd seed in tournament

The Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League regular season ended early last week, and the summer playoffs began Friday and Saturday.

The Marlboro Mighty Marlins 9U team earned the third seed in the Gold bracket and was scheduled to host a game playoff game on Tuesday.

Kent 16, Marlboro Mighty Marlins 13
It was a slugfest on the road, but the Kent White Sox B scored 10 runs in the third inning to beat the Marlboro Mighty Marlins on July 20 at Ryan Memorial Field in Kent.
The game was tied, 3-3 before Kent took a 13-3 lead in the third inning. Marlboro kept the game alive with seven runs in the fourth inning, but Kent scored three more in the bottom of the inning to take a 16-10 lead.
Marlboro scored three runs in the sixth inning.

Marlboro Mighty Marlins 2
The Hudson Valley Hawks Orange took a 5-0 lead as they beat the Marlboro Marlins in their regular-season finale on July 23 at Young’s Park.

Trailing by five runs, the Marlins scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. They managed four hits and made two errors.

The Marlins split a doubleheader on July 20 at Young’s Park in Milton, losing the first game before winning the second.
The Pirates scored two runs in the first and second innings and Marlboro scored one each in the innings to fall behind 4-2. The Pirates tacked on another two runs in the fourth inning.
The Marlins scored nine runs in the second inning on their way to a win in the second game.
The Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the first, but Marlboro took the lead for good in the top of the second. The Pirates scored three runs in the second inning but didn’t score after that.

Hudson Valley Storm Two 0
The Marlboro Marlins scored nine runs in the first two innings to rout the Hudson Valley Storm Two on July 21 at New Windsor Little League.
They scored three runs in the first inning, six in the second, and two in the fourth. The game was called by the 10-run rule.
Alex Fernandez no-hit the Storm and struck out 11.

The Hudson Valley Storm banged out four home runs on Wednesday in a win over the Marlboro Marlins at Town of Newburgh Little League on Wednesday.
The Marlins took a 2-0 lead, but the Storm responded with seven runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth to take an eighth-run lead.
The Marlins added a run in the fifth inning.
