The Highland Public Library is thrilled to announce a series of upcoming events that promise to engage, educate and entertain the local community.

1. Defensive Driving and Point Insurance Reduction Program
Date and Time: Saturday, September 30, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Location: Highland Public Library, 14 Elting Place, Highland

Fee: $40 in advance, $45 at the door
Instructors: Victor Bujanow, Chief Instructor, and Deborah Harpine, APW
Description: Are you looking to reduce your insurance premiums? The Point/Insurance Reduction Program is here to help. Upon completion, you will be eligible for an immediate 10% discount on your Collision and Auto Liability premiums, including Property Damage (PD), Bodily Injury (BI), and Personal Injury Protection (PIP)-No Fault. This discount applies to all vehicles for which you are the principal operator for the next 3 years! Additionally, if you’ve incurred violations in the 18 months prior to completing the course, you can enjoy up to a 4-point reduction on your driving record. This program is open to all drivers, including youthful, senior, and motorcycle drivers, as well as commercial vehicle operators. Recognized by all New York State Automobile Insurance Companies.

2. Granny Square Stash Bash
 Date and Time: Tuesdays, 1 - 2:30 p.m.
Description: Join us for some creative fun as we make beautiful and colorful granny squares. We have a stash of yarn scraps and skeins waiting to be transformed into lovely squares. Once we have enough squares, we’ll sew them together to create gorgeous afghans, which will be raffled to support the library’s fantastic programs. Bring your favorite H hook and your enthusiasm!

3. Halloween Costume Swap - Donate Your Costumes!
Date: During the week of October 23
Description: We’re preparing for a spooktacular event, and we need your help. Donate your gently used costumes and accessories to our Costume Swap! Don’t let those outgrown costumes gather dust in your closet. Drop them off at the library, and then join us during the week of October 23 for our Costume Swap. All costume sizes are welcome.

In addition to these exciting events, Highland Library has a wide range of other activities for the community to enjoy, including Drop-In Lego Lab, Story and Music Time for Little Acorns, Medicaid Planning and Long-Term Care workshops, computer assistance sessions, board games for teens, yoga classes, and much more.
