The Office of New York Attorney General Letitia James is hosting a community Gun Buyback in collaboration with the Newburgh Police Department on Thursday, July 22, at The Cathedral At The House (131 Broadway, Newburgh) from 12 to 4 p.m.

Under this amnesty program, the state will pay up to $250 and an iPad for an assault rifle; $150 and an iPad for a handgun; $75 for a rifle or shotgun and $25 for a non-working or antique gun.

There is no limit to the number of guns that can be turned in, but guns must be unloaded and placed in a plastic bag, paper bag or box. No questions will be asked of the person dropping off the gun.
