Hit and run crash leaves two dead

On March 1, 2024, at approximately 9:23 p.m.,  the State Police responded to 1347 State Route 9W in the town of Marlboro for a report of a hit-and-run fatal collision involving two pedestrians.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Donna Cristallo, age 72, from Kingston, was pushing Stephen Celuch, age 75, from Kingston,  in his wheelchair attempting to cross 9W, near The Falcon.

As they entered the southbound lane of traffic, a vehicle traveling south, later identified as a 2020 Kia Forte, struck them both. Stephen Celuch was pronounced deceased at the scene. Donna Cristallo was transported to St. Luke's Hospital by EMS, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The vehicle in question continued southbound on 9W  and was subsequently stopped by the Newburgh Town Police on North Plank Road. The vehicle's operator was identified as Angela Fischl, 25, from Newburgh, 

This accident is still under investigation.  The State Police is asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to call (845) 691-2922.
