With summer in full swing, farmers markets have begun to open up.

The Pine Bush Farmers Market is celebrating its nineteenth year. They are open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays from May 23 to Oct. 24. Vendors include Royal Acres Farm, Honeybrook Farms, Dancing Hills Farm, Corey’s Pickles, All Things Delicious and Florida Bakery. Customers are asked to wear a mask while shopping.

Royal Acres Farm of Middletown offers plenty of fresh vegetables at the farmers market. They have offered lettuce, cilantro, garlic scapes and wasabi greens as well as flower pots.

Honeybrook Farms of Middletown has brought many different kinds of honey to the farmers market. This includes raw clover, raw buckwheat and honey spread.

Dancing Hills Farm of Walden has sold plants, vegetables and maple syrup at previous Pine Bush Farmers Markets. They sell dried peppers, asparagus and mushrooms in addition to hanging baskets, honey and eggs.

Corey’s Pickles of Montgomery sells a large assortment of pickles at the Pine Bush Farmers Market. Hot and spicy and sweet horseradish are two of their signature offerings. They also sell pickled green tomatoes and barrel-cured sauerkraut.

All Things Delicious of Pine Bush bring a number of baked goods to the farmers market. Rugelach and brownies have been among their offerings. They even brought strawberry rhubarb pie to the farmers market on July 4.

Much like All Things Delicious, Florida Bakery and Deli offers a number of sweets. Their almond and poppy seed strudels as well as their cakes keep customers coming back for more.

Pine Bush Farmers Market Coordinator Douglas Drossell noted that business has been doing well this year.

“The Pine Bush Farmers Market vendors are proud of our little market and the quality products that we offer,” he said. “We are also delighted to see so many customers coming out to support us thus far this year.”

Every Friday, from 2-6 p.m. until October 23 a farmer’s market will be held on the grounds of the First Reformed Church, 70 Scofield Street, Walden. Items available there include homegrown vegetables, microgreens, mushrooms, honey, maple syrup, eggs, soap and more.

The Town of Montgomery Farmers Market began on Tuesday and will be held every Tuesday through Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m at Town Hall, 110 Bracken Road. Customers are required to sanitize their hands, maintain social distancing, wear a mask and follow shopping traffic.

“This market was created to give our residents a convenient, safe way to access locally produced and grown goods, restaurants and enjoy enrichment activities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Randi Greene, who helped organize the farmers market along with the rest of the Town of Montgomery Community Response Team.

Week one vendors included Astoria Hudson, Usborne Books, Montgomery Book Exchange, Goats in a Coat, Spice Beast, Go Goat Cheese and Cooperstone Cheese Company.

Wine and spirit vendors for week one included City Winery, Magnanini Winery and Tuthilltown Spirits. Food and beverages were provided by Copperfields, Frankie T’s, Java Blue Coffee, Ice Caps, Mainline Diner, Dragon City and Johnny’s Pizzeria & Restaurant.

Farms and florists in attendance for week one included Twin Ponds Greenhouse, Hoeffner Farms, Steed’s Bees and Secret Garden Florist. Baked goods were provided by Whipped Cupcakes, Eat This Bakery, Calculated Confections and Goodway Bakery.

Unlike the Pine Bush, Walden and Montgomery farmers markets, Tantillo’s Farm Market in Gardiner is open seven days a week. They serve ice cream every day from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Their farm market is open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily and sells their homemade jam as well as milk, yogurt and butter from Ronnybrook Farm. They also offer pickles from Corey’s Pickles and meats from Goodnow Family Farm.

Wright’s Farm in Gardiner is open year-round from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Their farmstand sells hydroponic lettuce as well as fruits such as cherries, raspberries and strawberries. Cheeses, apple cider and sweets such as cookies and doughnuts are also available.
