Skoufis announces $50K science grant for PB schools

Senator James Skoufis (D-Orange County) has secured $50,000 in grant funding for the Pine Bush Central School District. This money has been used to purchase 18 Samsung Interactive Displays, with their mounts, installed and currently in use in science classrooms for students grades 7 through 12.

The interactive boards have been installed in Circleville Middle School, Crispell Middle School, and Pine Bush High School, where they have been well-received by teachers and students. The value of these boards has been so immediately apparent that the Pine Bush Central School District has placed an order to acquire additional boards, so even more students can have access to the technology.

“The value of a scientific education cannot be overstated,” said Skoufis. “Science teaches students to ask questions, solve problems, and apply what they learn. All invaluable skills no matter what students pursue in life. There is an increasing need for scientists, engineers, and innovators in our fast-changing world, and I am thrilled that the result of this funding will encourage and excite a whole new generation of scientific learners right here in Orange County.”

“We are excited to have the opportunity to utilize this technology to elevate our science instruction in Pine Bush schools,” said Science Department Chairperson, Dr. Michael Raucci. “Senator Skoufis and his staff have been a pleasure to work with as we have endeavored to improve the classroom learning experience for both teachers and students.”
