Mario Verruto won the boys’ race and Caitlyn Murphy won the girls’ race as the Wallkill Panthers won both the boys’ and girls’ meets in a Mid Hudson League cross country meet on Wednesday at Wallkill High School.

Verruto won the boys’ meet with a time of 17:28 as the boys finished with 16 points. The Highland Huskies scored 54 and Rhinebeck was third with 61 points.

Zachary Haeser was the top finisher for Highland with a fifth-place finish in 19:50.57.

Rhinebeck’s Landon Williams finished seventh in 21:07.

The Panthers won the girls’ meet, 28-30, over Highland.

Murphy won the race in 19:28.48 as the Panthers took the top three spots. Scarlet Lovell was the top finisher for the Huskies with a time of 24:54.41.

Jillian Hanna finished 10th for Rhinebeck with a time of 28:17.01. The Hawks didn’t have enough players to qualify as a team.
