This week I will share information on another special local organization -The Senior Independence Project, a program of the Town of Montgomery (Maybrook, Montgomery and Walden). Neighbors helping neighbors - a no fee program.

If you are 60 years and older and need assistance with transportation services, medical appointments, grocery shopping, friendly visits/calls, clerical services, small household chores, library service, etc., call 845-457-4138.

Their Mission Statement cites the T.O.M.S.I.P. is committed to supporting seniors by helping them remain in their own homes rather than moving on to institutional settings, developing a program to coordinate volunteers and reliable vendors who will provide necessary services to achieve that goal and keeping them in the community both for their benefit and also to enrich the community as a whole with their companionship, experience and wisdom.

If you would like to become a volunteer, call 845-457-4138 for more information and training. Just 60 minutes a week can make a world of difference to our neighbors.
