Tuesday, August 3, 5 - 9 p.m. the Walden United Methodist Church will have their monthly fundraiser at Franco’s Italian Restaurant. Take out only. Present a required coupon and Franco’s will donate 15% of your meal purchase to the Church Building fund. Coupon available on line or by contacting Nancy Sairrino at 845-234-6034. Your support is appreciated.

The Walden Rotary Club Annual Golf Tournament originally scheduled for June 14 at Otterkill Country Club has been rescheduled to August 9.

The First Reformed Church of Walden will hold their Farmer’s Market 2 - 6 p.m. on July 23 and every Friday on Church grounds, 70 Scofield Street. You will find many items fresh from the garden as well as several types of fresh mushrooms, honey and maple syrup and more. New vendors are welcome. To set up, the charge is 10% of the day’s revenue but no more than $20. For information call Rev. James O’Connell at 201-574-6407.

The Town of Montgomery Farmer’s Market at Town Hall, 110 Bracken Road, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. is held every Tuesday until September 28. Shop a variety of 25 vendors who are ready to serve you. Call 457-2600 ext. 1287 for information.

The Walden Recreation & Parks Department, Josephine-Louise Public Library and the Walden Community Council are sponsoring “Music in the Grove,’’ Free Summer Concert Series on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., Wooster Grove Memorial Park, 89 East Main Street. Music for July 21 will feature The Bunker Boys, a six man band from Coldenham. These boys are set to lift your spirits. On July 28 enjoy the music of Kevin Cronin and Walk Don’t Run. The Walden Jewish Community Center/Congregation Beth Hillel will hold an Open House and Shabbat Service on Friday, July 23, 7 p.m., 20 Pine Street, Walden. A celebratory array of light refreshments of baked goods, fresh fruits and Shabbat specialties will follow the service. The congregation is looking forward to reconnecting with current and past members and renewing the weekly gathering to welcome the Sabbath.Visitors and new members are always welcome. On Sunday evening, July 25, 6 p.m. the Walden Jewish Community, co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Orange County will host a Klezmer Musical Event at James W. Olley Community Park, 97 Sherman Avenue, Walden. There will be a Klezmer dance workshop led by Judy Sweet followed by a concert featuring the band Madarka. Klezmer is an instrumental musical tradition of the Ashkenazi Jews of Central and Eastern Europe. The essential elements of the tradition include dance tunes, ritual melodies,and virtuosic improvisations. A suggested donation of $10 per adult will assist with the presentation of this event. Walden Community Council and the Harvest Fest Committee will hold an Outside Bazaar at Wooster Grove Memorial Park, 89 East Main Street, Walden on Saturday, July 31, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sign up now! $35 per spot. A fundraiser to support the Hudson Valley Honor Flight, sponsored by Teamster Horsemen will be held at Lippincott Manor, 69 Lippincott Road, Wallkill, on Sunday August 8.
There will be a car show at 10 a.m. and a BBQ at noon. Tickets $20 at the door - kids 12 and under free. BBQ includes pork, chicken, hamburgers, and hot dogs plus beer. Reminder - the Walden Knights of Columbus will hold a Golf Outing on Monday, August 16 at the Otterkill Golf Course, 100 Otter Road, Campbell Hall. Golf Fee - $150 per golfer/ $500 per team 8:30 a.m. registration & Driving range. 10 a.m. Shotgun Start/ lunch on the turn/ dinner and awards.
Proceeds benefit local food pantries, Hospice of Orange & Sullivan County/ HV Honor Flight /special Olympics and other charitable works in the community by the knights.

The New York School of Music students will join our Summer Reading session on Tuesday, July 27, 2 p.m. at Bradley Park. These talented students will treat us to a “Fairy Tale” Cabaret. Join in the festivities and get to know what the NYSM is all about. Not to be missed and all ages welcome!
The Classic Movie Night is scheduled for Friday, 6 p.m. and will feature “Little Shop of Horrors”. The American Sign Language Club will meet on Saturday, July 31, 11 a.m.

A reminder: The library and the Historical Society of Walden and Wallkill Valley will feature Dr. Michael Diaz, Curator of History and Uniforms at the West point Museum, on Saturday, July 24, 1 p.m., 3rd floor Bradley Assembly Room, Municipal Building. This program is open to everyone and is handicapped accessible. This is a great program for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H’ers and History Club members!
