The Town of Crawford Police Department recently investigated several reports of high school students creating havoc in Pine Bush on Monday, April 19, including disturbances outside of residents’ homes and vandalism in the Crawford Town Park.

Supervisor Charles Carnes and the board published a statement on their Facebook page on Tuesday, April 23 explaining the situation and warning adolescents that their misconduct will not be tolerated.

“Yesterday we had several groups of youth ringing doorbells, kicking on doors, and creating disturbances after school let out. Last night we had vandalism at the Town Park,” the board wrote. “Patrols and security will be beefed up starting immediately and we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. This behavior and destruction must stop immediately.”

The Crawford Police Department posted another statement on the same day, asserting that the officers have found the individuals and are currently working with the Pine Bush School District to minimize this behavior. Additionally, the department will send out more patrol officers in the hamlet and parks to ensure that the disturbances and vandalism would cease.

“With the weather getting nicer, there has been an increased number of students in the hamlet after school. Unfortunately, a few of the students have been conducting themselves inappropriately,” the department wrote. “Many of those individuals have been identified and our SROs are working with the school to educate them on proper behavior. To be more visible in the hamlet area, we will be increasing our foot patrols, bike patrols and RTV patrols.”

The police department advised residents to call (845) 744-5000 if they see any reckless or suspicious activity.
