Walden Chief of Police William R. Herlihy sends word that Vincent Wosneski is the newest addition to the Walden Police Department. He will serve as their Parking Enforcement Officer.

Please welcome Officer Wosneski and support him as he helps keep our streets safe and orderly.

March 21 is International Day of Forests, established by resolution of the United Nations General Assembly. Among the many benefits of forests, spending time among trees can have an important impact on physical, mental and spiritual health. Forests reduce stress, improve mood and inspire us. For millennia, spiritual pilgrims of all faiths have retreated to forests for prayer, contemplation and meditation.

On Thursday, March 21, 12 p.m., the Walden Interfaith Clergy group is hosting an interfaith prayer and meditation on the spiritual blessings to be found in forests. We will meet at the Tsechen Kunchab Ling Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary located at 12 Edmunds Lane, Walden, across the street from the temple. The Walden Senior Club Members, Family and Friends send belated Happy birthday greetings to Art Williams. Art celebrated his special day on March 12. They also send ’Happy Birthday” greetings to Barbara Karinchak on March 29 and to Louise Miller who will celebrate on March 27. The Walden Senior Club members meet at the Anita L. M. P. B. Knights of Columbus Council No. 9254 provides take-out Lenten Dinners on Friday Nights during Lent until March 22. On the March 22nd menu is two Battered Cod Fillets, French Fries, Vegetable, Roll and Cookies. Meals are $10 each. Pre Orders and Take Out Only. Walden’s Recreation and Parks Dept. will hold their Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30, at 10 a.m. at James W. Olley Community Park, 97 Sherman Avenue. Bring your basket and meet the Easter Bunny! Participants will be split into the following age groups: 0 - 4 years; 5 - 7 years and 8 - 11 years. Prizes for the 2 children in each group who find the GOLDEN egg! Fun for the whole family!!! This event was originally scheduled for March 23, but postponed because of rain in the forecast.

Catholic Conversations will meet on Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. in Father Sullivan Hall at M. P. B. Church The topic chosen for discussion is “St. Joseph: a model of obedience to God”. For information, please call Larry and Jean Winum at (845) 778-1602.

Please mark your calendar to support the Walden Historical Society by participating in their Dining for Dollars event at Franco’s Italian Pizzeria, Walden on Tuesday March 26, 5 - 9 p.m. A coupon must be used to participate. Twenty percent of your meal purchased from Francos will be donated to the Walden Historical Society. Find coupons at the Josephine-Louise Public Library or the Historical Society website. On Saturday, March 30, 9 a.m. - 12 noon Wallkill Masonic Lodge No 627 invites you to attend breakfast with our F. D., P. D. and Ambulance Corps at Wallkill Masonic Lodge, 61 Main Street, Walden. Come out for a hot breakfast and meet and greet your first responders. Children and Seniors eat free. All others a $10 donation please. They have a chair lift.

On Sunday, March 31, the Walden Fire Department will host an Easter Breakfast of the Fire house, 7 a.m. - 12 p.m. Seniors - $20. Age 2 and under is free, ages 3 - 11, $10 and 12 and over is $12. Pictures with the Easter Bunny available.
