Judy Gridley, the president of the Montgomery Food Pantry, received the Town of Montgomery’s December Citizen of the Month award on Wednesday, December 12, commemorating her efforts to ensure no family goes hungry in the town.

Supervisor Ronald Feller, during the town’s board meeting, announced the nomination and highlighted Gridley’s dedication to the pantry, her volunteer work with St.

Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Walden, and her positivity to the community.

“No task is too big or small for Judy at the food pantry. She does everything from paperwork, tracking the number of families that are served, to making up bags of food, to working with the distribution line, come rain or shine,” Feller said. “She is also heavily involved in her church, St. Andrew’s of Walden, where she also helps in a variety of tasks and jumps in whatever is asked. Judy is a tremendous asset to our community, a positive personality, cheerful spirit, and her smile radiates to everyone around her.”

Feller handed Gridley a certificate and a plaque and mentioned that the board would add her name to the town hall’s Citizen of the Month plaque. Gridley thanked both the board and the town, not only for the award but for the community’s support to the pantry.

“Thank you very much, I’m honored and humbled to be a recipient of this award. It’s all of us working together that makes our community as great as it is, and I’m glad to be part of it. I’m glad to help,” Gridley said.

“I really appreciate all of your ongoing support making it possible for us to provide sustenance, not only of food but of hope to the people that come through the food pantry.”
