PB girls beaten in Class A Section 9 lacrosse final

The Kingston Tigers scored early, and they scored often, building an early lead and rolled over the Pine Bush girls’ lacrosse team to win the Section 9 Class A championship with a 15-3 win on Thursday at Dietz Stadium.
The Tigers had already scored five goals when Antonia Licardi scored a goal with 15:35 remaining in the first half. By halftime, the Tigers had taken a 12-1 lead.

Sophia Licardi added two second-half goals for second-seeded Pine Bush and Samantha Budney had an assist. Mollie Harris made four saves.

Overall, Pine Bush had trouble containing Kingston’s Norah Prizzi, who scored five goals and had three assists. Arianna Burns added three goals and two assists. Kailey Cook had three goals and Juliona Montalto had two. Donatella DeCicco had a goal, and an assist and Sophia Georges scored a goal late in the game. Emily Schatzel had an assist and Julianne Louie had one save for the Tigers. Karah Houston made 3 saves.

Second-seeded Pine Bush advanced to the championship game with a 12-7 win over No. 3 Monroe-Woodbury on June 8 at Pine Bush Elementary School.

Brigid Boyle had three goals and two assists, while Antonia Licardi had three goals. Sophia Licardi had two goals and Amanda Watkins had two goals and an assist. Grace Duffy had a goal, and an assist and Ella Meberg had a goal.

Alani Touwsma had an assist and Mollie Harris had five saves.

Erin Malloy, Cassidy Stella and Colleen Gillian had two goals each for the Crusaders. Courtney Key had a goal and an assist. Teresa Jacoby and Diane Lang had an assist each, while Amanda Roberts made five saves.

Pine Bush gained valuable experience during the 2021 season as they only graduate one senior – Alexandra Watkins – from the team. They have nine juniors on the squad.

No. 2 Minisink Valley 15, No. 3 Valley Central 9

Grace Palczewski scored four goals and two others, but it wasn’t enough as the Valley Central girls’ lacrosse team dropped its semifinal game to Minisink Valley.

Molly Witkowski and Erica Ortiz had four goals and an assist each. Logan Barry and Riley Boice had two goals each. Sophia Burton, Cayleigh Kuiken and Riley Nelson had a goal each. Kaylee Gadol made nine saves the Warriors, who hosted Cornwall for the championship on Friday.

Mackenzie Delmonico scored two goals for the third-seeded Vikings. Kiera McPhillips and Gabriella Morelli had a goal and an assist each. Melanie Grismer also scored a goal. Rebecca Siblye had an assist and Maddie Roszkowski made five saves.
