Pickleball is now available at the Senior Center

The 2021 Valley Central Scholarship Council  Craft Fair Vendor Registration is now open. Note it is an outdoor event .It will be held on Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Go to their website, vcsc1964.com, for info and application. There will be over 90 craft vendors, food and refreshments, admission is $3, $1 for students and seniors, kids under age 5 are free.

Events at the Montgomery Senior Center this week are: Wednesday  - 1 p.m. Pickleball. Thursday - 9 am Group Exercise,  1 pm Pickle Ball (outside courts). Friday -  9 a.m. Cards and Games. Any questions on any of the events call Trish Murphy at the Senior Center 457-9367.  On Tuesday, July 27, New Horizons will meet.
Mark your calendars for these upcoming presentations:
On Thursday August 12th at 10:30 a.m. there will be a free seminar by Walden Savings Bank:  Safe Banking:  Identifying and Avoiding Scams.  It will be held at 10:30 a.m., at the Montgomery Senior Center. 
All are welcome to attend what will be a timely and informative presentation.   

Everyone likes to save money. On Thursday September 30 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. there will be a  Defensive Driving Certification Class. Save 10% on your Auto Insurance and Reduce up to 4 points on your Driver’s License. Cost is $25 per person.

The Montgomery Senior Center is pleased to announce the reopening of the dining program  in conjunction with the O.C. Office for the Aging. Lunches will continue every Monday, Wednesday and Friday thereafter between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. 24 hour advance reservation is required, call 845-457-9367 to reserve. A $3.50 donation is suggested for anyone over the age of 60.
Face masks and social distancing will be required if you are not vaccinated. We have been closed for over 15 months and cannot wait to see all of your smiling faces again!

The Orange County Office for the Aging in conjunction with the Montgomery Senior Center is again running its Lunch & Learn program, which will be running on a bi-monthly basis beginning Wednesday July 28, 2021 at 11:15 a.m. 

Enjoy a nutritious lunch ($3.50 suggested donation for seniors), followed by an informational talk on a health related issue.  Here is the upcoming schedule of informational talks: Wed. July 28:  Why You Need a Multi-Vitamin (And How To Pick One Out). Wed. Aug. 11: Lyme Disease Prevention. Wed. Aug. 25: Health Benefits of Coffee and Tea. Free blood pressure screenings are offered at all of the  Lunch & Learn presentations.
Call 457-9367 at least 24 hours in advance to sign up for lunch or for more information.

BINGO ! Who remembers the feeling of raising your hand and yelling out that phrase. Well its back, Bingo  at the Montgomery Senior Center on  Monday August 2 at 11 am.

The Senior Center is available for rental. For additional information, call the Village Clerk at (845) 457-9661 or go to the  village website and see the Senior Center Rental Agreement. Please note, do not contact the Senior Center for rentals.

The Summer Concert Series at the Village of Montgomery Bandstand resumes on Thursday nights  from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Bring a chair, a blanket, a beverage, bug guard and your dancing shoes if you wish.
Come on out for a good time and good music and a real feel good evening. On July 22, Jungle Love will perform and then on July 29 the Hurley Mountain Highway band will entertain us. 

The Town of Montgomery  announces the Farmer’s Market is open. It is located at 110 Bracken Rd. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Tuesday until September 28.  Shop the variety of  25 vendors, call 457-2600 ext. 1287 for info.

Join in on Saturday, August 21, 1 - 3 p.m. for the next free book signing at the Montgomery Book Exchange. 
They will have Charles J. LaRocca with his book Red Badge to Gettysburg. If you would like to read the book before the event, they have it at the store, and are happy to ship anywhere or deliver locally.

Also their Book Club meets every 3rd Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., please note the new time.
The books they will be reading are:  July 21, Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. August 18,  The Woman Who Smashed Codes by Jason Fagone. September 15, City of Thieves by David Beniof.

Thankfully there will be a Orange County Household Hazardous Waste Collection event.
It will take place on Saturday, July 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Thomas Bull Memorial Park picnic area  at 90 Grove St.
