The Town of Crawford presents: the Friday Evening Summer Concert Series at the Gazebo! 65 Main Street, Pine Bush from 7 – 9 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket; make a night of it! Bring a snack, or consider grabbing dinner to-go from a restaurant on Main Street or visit one of the wonderful restaurants right on the premises with outdoor tables!

Enjoy a beautiful summer evening with friends and live music. Coming up on Friday, July 30, The Oxford Station Band with acoustic rock and Americana.

In our town, many older adults and neighbors with disabilities live alone and enjoy their independence. Some are in need of a caring friend to help them remain home for as long as possible. Simple Gestures can make the difference; they help your neighbor feel connected to the community. Our Friendly Visitor Program is committed to supporting our residents by helping them remain in their homes.  We match local volunteers with residents that need support. There is no charge for services.

For more information or to Volunteer contact Domanie Ragni at 845-744-8230.

The Pine Bush Seniors are happy to announce that they will be resuming weekly meetings at the Pine Bush Senior/Community Center on Tuesdays.

The meetings start at 1 p.m. but the center will be open for people to come earlier. Residents of the Town of Crawford and neighboring towns are welcome to attend.  After many months, the Seniors are looking forward to Happier Times. For further information, please call Maria Pongracz at 744-8548.

Looking to volunteer and be part of the community? Why not join the Pine Bush Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary. Meetings are held the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m. Stop by and join us.

The Trustees of the Pine Bush Area Library meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the library.

The Catholic War Veterans meet the second Thursday of each month at their hall located on Center Street. The Catholic War Veterans, American Legion, and VFW are looking for new members. To join or for more information contact Ted at 744-2234.

Library news
The summer reading program is off to a good start, despite all the rain.  The NYS theme this year is, Tails and Tales.

Children are learning all about tails and how important they are to its owner. Also learning about homonyms and homographs is fun, too.

So read a Tale about a Tail. Many books in the library and on the porch to choose from. Did you know that you can see real tails at the Bear Mountain State Park and visit the Trailside Museum and Zoo? Get our Empire Pass for free parking at the library desk. Entrance to the zoo is by donation of $1.00. When you go, take a picture of your favorite animal tail, show it to our story time leaders and get a Stewart’s  coupon for a free ice cream.

Come read to our Reading Education Assistance Dog, Mocha. You will need to check for a 15 minute slot to read. This experience builds confidence and fluency in oral reading.

Pinocle on Mondays, Scrabble on Tuesdays and Bridge on Thursdays are back in full swing.  There is always room for one more. Join us. We have 4 book discussion book clubs. If you would like to join, please leave your name at the main desk.  There is always room for one more.

If you encounter a tick, there is free testing. Did you know NY ticks can transmit 7 other potentially dangerous pathogens?  If you want to test the tick that bit you, visit https://nyticks.org .

Aliens and spaceships are still available for you to decorate and have ready for a photo op at the library on August 11. These will be placed in your store window, front of your business, on your lawn, or on main street.

These four foot figures are primed and painted. You are the one to get your creative juices flowing and paint. UFO day is Sept. 4. Let’s get it going!
