Sunshine Society provides a vital community service

We live in a community with many outstanding organizations. The Walden Sunshine Society was organized in 1910 by Mary Knapp Hill, a Walden woman.

Her daughter Margaret Hill Millspaugh was a charter member. The Walden Sunshine Society incorporated in 1963. In the past, the Sunshine Society members have visited local shut-ins and nursing home residents. Due to Covid this has been limited.

Perhaps our most valued contribution to the community is our large inventory of medical equipment. Walkers, rollators, wheelchairs, transport chairs, shower benches, crutches, canes and commodes are loaned, free of charge, to those who need them. This service has been ongoing during Covid. The Walden Sunshine Society offers this service to residents of Walden, Wallkill, Maybrook, Montgomery and Pine Bush.

We depend on membership dues and private donations to keep medical equipment in good repair or to buy new when necessary and to support local benevolent projects.

For equipment information, please call, Anita at 845-778-7772,or Sue at 845-778-3532.
