Walden Elementary School building tours scheduled

The Valley Central Board of Education has scheduled two additional tours of the Walden Elementary School to gain feedback for a potential renovation of the 98-year-old building. Upcoming tours are scheduled for Saturday, April 6th at 10 am and Tuesday, April 9th at 6:30 pm.

Walden Elementary was originally established in 1926 as a K12 school and was eventually converted into an elementary school. The building underwent numerous changes over the decades, including the addition of a new wing and the removal of the gymnasium’s balcony. The Valley Central district wants to continue renovating the school and tend to its aging conditions, such as the lack of air conditioning in some rooms and leaks. Handicap support, in particular, is a major issue for the building; if a student sustains an injury that requires them to use a wheelchair, they would need to be transferred to a different school with handicap support until they recover.

All community members within the VC school district are invited to tour Walden Elementary School and gain insight into the explorations of the future of Walden Elementary School.
