At its September 23 meeting, the Highlands Town Board was expected to pass a resolution asking New York State to reduce the speed on Old State Rd., which runs between Highland Falls and Fort Montgomery, to 30 mph fully. Currently, the road is 35mph on the Highland Falls side of it and 40mph on the Fort Montgomery side. Supervisor Bob Livsey said the board received a request from a resident – via Senator James Skoufis’ office – to reduce both sides to 30 mph. “We have to go through a whole process with the state Department of Transportation,” Supervisor Bob Livsey said, “to see if they’ll lower it.”
